Founded in 1963, Openlands is an environmental conservation organization that works in the Chicagoland region to connect people to nature where they live.
The Openlands Arborist Registered Apprenticeship (ARA) is the first and only DOL-approved arboriculture apprenticeship program in the state of Illinois. Openlands employs apprentices during the first year of the program and connects apprentices to work with regional employer partners to complete the 3-year program, with the goal of having better trained employees, higher retention rates and creating a more diverse workforce for the Chicago region.
